The sizes do not match the sizes of windows which can reduce their light and insulation benefits. Often the fabric is a lower quality or seconds grade quality which explains the difference in price. In most cases a ready made curtain is obviously different visually.

Continuous Fabrics are normally wide width (2.8m to 3.2m) and manufactured in a manner that allows for no joins in most windows. Most commonly these are sheer fabrics. Non-Continuous fabrics are more traditional narrow widths (1.2m to 1.5m). They are commonly non-blockout fabrics which need to be lined.
